Apple's first foldable, the iPhone Duo, is finally here — but the company arrived years after Samsung, Google and Motorola began selling book-style foldables. According to Engadget, that head start means Android buyers now have several mature alternatives to Apple's $1,999.99 debut. The question is which one comes closest.
Engadget compared the Duo against the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8, Google Pixel 11 Pro Fold and Motorola Razr Fold, plus Xiaomi's freshly revealed 18 Fold. The verdict: no Android phone is a perfect copy, but the Galaxy Z Fold 8 lands nearest overall, mainly on screen size.
Display and weight compared
The Duo's 5.4-inch cover screen and 7.6-inch inner display sit in the middle of this group. Samsung's Z Fold 8 is the closest fit, with a 7.6-inch interior panel and a 5.5-inch cover display.
Google and Motorola both go bigger. The Pixel 11 Pro Fold carries an 8-inch inner screen and a 6.5-inch outer one, while the Razr Fold uses a 6.6-inch cover display and a nearly 8.1-inch interior. Xiaomi's 18 Fold, announced days before the Duo, measures 7.68 inches unfolded with a 5.38-inch outer screen — very close to both Apple and Samsung.
Cameras, batteries and durability
Camera hardware splits the field. The Duo pairs a 12MP Center Stage front camera with two 48MP rear sensors. Samsung's Z Fold 8 edges it on paper with two 50MP rear cameras, though its front shooter is 10MP.
The Pixel 11 Pro Fold matches Apple's 48MP main camera and adds a 10.8MP telephoto lens that the Duo lacks. Motorola wins the megapixel race outright: 50MP main, ultrawide and telephoto cameras plus a 20MP cover selfie camera.
- iPhone Duo: 12MP front, two 48MP rear, IP68, 9 ounces
