Samsung is already working behind the scenes on One UI 10, its next major Android skin, built on Android 18. The news comes from early leaks reported by 9to5Google on October 19, 2026, even as Android 17 keeps rolling out to phones through the current One UI 9 update.
Why it matters: Samsung has shipped several modest updates in a row, and this one is being described as significantly bigger. Since One UI is used by millions of Galaxy owners, any major shift reaches far beyond just the newest flagship handsets.
One UI 10 leaks point to major changes
According to 9to5Google, tipster Ice Universe claims the update will bring 'significant changes, unprecedented in nature.' The term 'Galaxy OS' has also surfaced in rumors, although 9to5Google notes there is little weight behind it, since the rumor itself backs away from the name.
Nothing concrete has leaked about actual features yet. What is clear from the early chatter is that Samsung is preparing a larger-than-usual update after a string of smaller releases.
Why Samsung is due for a bigger update
Samsung's last major overhaul came with One UI 7 in 2024, built on Android 15. That version reworked the lock screen and app drawer. Before it, One UI 6 on Android 14 laid the groundwork for those changes.
Since then, updates have been more restrained. One UI 8 on Android 16 added quality-of-life tweaks and app updates, while One UI 8.5 followed with design and functionality refinements. One UI 9 on Android 17, currently rolling out, is described as one of the smallest updates in recent memory.
Android 18 and the Liquid Glass trend
Much remains unknown about Android 18 itself. Google has teased new graphics capabilities for developers, including 'delightful mesh gradients' and 'progressive blurs,' with more details expected at the Android Dev Summit.
