Samsung Health users can now start Sleep Coaching after just three days of sleep data, instead of collecting a full week of consecutive data within a month, as reported by Engadget. The change arrives with a broader Samsung Health update that also reworks the app's Running Coach and adds new analysis tools.
The update is rolling out gradually through Samsung Health app updates this month, Samsung said, though availability and timing may vary by market and model. It matters because the shorter setup window removes the biggest friction point for Galaxy Watch, Galaxy Fit and Galaxy Ring owners who previously gave up before completing a week of tracking.
Samsung Health sleep coaching changes
According to GSMArena, Sleep Coaching previously required a full week of sleep data collected within a month. The new version cuts that to three days of sleep data from the past two weeks, which means new users can reach the coaching stage much faster.
During setup you answer questions about your sleep regularity and interruptions, your alcohol and caffeine intake, and how satisfied you are with your sleep. Samsung Health then assigns you a Sleep Animal symbol and builds a four- to eight-week program, based on what Samsung describes as behavioral sleep science. Tips include avoiding screens an hour before bed, skipping late caffeine and stretching outdoors after waking up.
