It's easy to miss Samsung's newest foldable, and that's mostly the point. The Galaxy W27 has just gone official as a China-exclusive variant of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, according to 9to5Google, arriving after the company's main 2026 foldable releases. It follows Samsung's longstanding pattern of selling a slightly dressier version of its book-style flagship to Chinese buyers only.
What sets the W27 apart isn't new hardware, it's fit and finish. Samsung gave it golden accents, a dark red option and a dark blue option, plus 16GB of RAM as standard on both storage tiers. That polish comes at a serious premium over the phone it's based on.
Samsung Galaxy W27 specs and price
Under the surface, the Galaxy W27 is essentially a Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, per 9to5Google. That means an 8-inch inner display, a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset and a 200MP main camera. SamMobile notes that it's also optimized for Tiantong satellite communications, a feature aimed at the Chinese market.
The pricing is where things get uncomfortable. The Galaxy W27 starts at CNY 18,999, roughly $2,800, and the 1TB version climbs to CNY 21,999, around $3,300. For comparison, the maxed-out 1TB Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra sells for $2,699, so the W27 costs more while offering the same core internals.
