Samsung's mobile business has slipped into the red again, according to Android Authority, even as the company drops hints about its next flagship, the Galaxy S27. The South Korean giant is reportedly teasing Galaxy S27 plans while its phone division posts a loss, a combination that underlines how hard the premium smartphone market has become.
Separately, GSMArena reports that new certification filings have corroborated the Galaxy S27's charging speed. The leaks point to a flagship that improves on the Galaxy S26 in some areas but keeps the same wired charging rate, a detail that matters to buyers comparing generations.
Galaxy S27 charging speed confirmed by certification
According to GSMArena, multiple Samsung devices believed to be the Galaxy S27 have been certified by Denmark's UL Solutions (Demko). The certificates list ratings of 9V DC and 2.77A, which works out to 24.93W, meaning the phones will be marketed as supporting 25W charging.
That is the same wired charging speed as the Galaxy S26, which was announced in February. The Galaxy S26 also supported 15W wireless charging, and GSMArena expects the Galaxy S27 to match that figure too.
GSMArena also notes that an earlier certification, for a device with model code SM-S9520, had already revealed 25W charging last month. The latest Demko certificates reinforce that finding rather than adding a new speed tier.
- Wired charging: 25W (9V DC, 2.77A per UL Solutions/Demko certificates)
- Wireless charging: expected 15W, same as Galaxy S26
- Battery capacity: unknown; Galaxy S26 had a 4,300 mAh cell, but GSMArena says it remains to be seen whether the Galaxy S27 matches it
