Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang announced $2 billion in new European investments during a tour that took him to Paris, with more stops planned in London and Berlin, according to Bloomberg and The Decoder. The pledge adds to roughly $8 billion Nvidia invested in Europe over the past year.
Alongside the money, Nvidia disclosed new stakes in French startups Doctolib, Genesis AI, Pigment and Entalpic. Huang also used the tour to pitch open-weight AI models as Europe's route to closing its artificial intelligence gap, and to repeat his pushback against calls to slow AI development.
Nvidia's $2 billion bet on European AI
The $2 billion is earmarked for new investments across Europe, with the spending due to unfold over the following week, per Bloomberg. Nvidia had already spent about $8 billion in Europe last year, making this latest move an extension of an existing strategy rather than a one-off.
The French startup stakes span healthcare, creative AI, business software and materials discovery. Doctolib is a major French health-tech platform, while Genesis AI, Pigment and Entalpic cover AI research, business planning and chemistry respectively, according to The Decoder.
