Motorola has announced the Signature 27, its first all-out premium slab flagship, at a starting price of $1,599 for 512GB of storage and 12GB of RAM. According to The Verge, it is the boldest premium play Motorola has made in the modern smartphone era, and it lines up directly against the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra — whose 512GB version also costs $1,599, although Samsung offers a cheaper 256GB model at $1,399.
The phone was first previewed earlier this year, and today's full announcement fills in the specs: Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset, a 7,000mAh silicon-carbon battery, a 6.8-inch tandem OLED display, IP68/IP69 ratings and Bang & Olufsen-designed audio. It also becomes the first mainstream phone in the US to support the privacy-focused GrapheneOS, a first for Motorola.
Motorola Signature 27 specs: flagship power and a huge battery
The Signature 27 leans into a luxury aesthetic with two Pantone color options, and the hardware list reads like a statement of intent from a brand mostly known for its Razr foldables. The tandem OLED screen uses two light-emitting panels to reach a peak brightness of 12,000 nits; Motorola argues the dual-layer design is more battery-efficient, which could keep the phone cooler at full brightness, though The Verge notes that still needs to be tested in practice.
Charging tops out at 90W wired and 50W wireless, but the faster wireless speeds require Motorola's proprietary wireless charger. There are no built-in Qi2 magnets, which The Verge calls a real disappointment at this price. Motorola is promising seven years of OS upgrades, matching the best support policies from Samsung and Google.
