The next wave of Android flagships, including the Galaxy S27 Ultra and the Google Pixel 12, is shaping up to be the most expensive yet. According to 9to5Google, recent price leaks suggest the Galaxy S27 Ultra could arrive starting at $1,500, a jump of $100 over the S26 Ultra's current price and $200 above what that phone launched at earlier this year. The Pixel 12's pricing is still far off, but 9to5Google warns that anyone eyeing it as their next phone should start saving now.
The debate matters because flagship prices have been rising steadily through 2026, with barely modified generations launching at $100 hikes and months-old hardware jumping in price without warning. For buyers in Tunisia and across the region, where phone prices are often higher after import duties, the squeeze is even sharper. The question is no longer just what the new phones will offer, but whether they will still be worth recommending to anyone outside the most hardcore enthusiasts.
Galaxy S27 Ultra price and chipset rumors
The Galaxy S27 Ultra has also become the center of a months-long chipset saga. GSMArena reports that Samsung has been weighing whether to use its own Exynos 2700 or Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 for the Ultra model. The rumor trail has swung back and forth since July, with claims first pointing to a global Snapdragon, then to Exynos-powered Ultras for Korea and Europe, and later back to Qualcomm.
The latest tip from Ice Universe, cited by GSMArena, says there are still no signs of the Exynos 2700 being used in the Galaxy S27 Ultra in Europe, while South Korea remains uncertain. If accurate, European buyers would get the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, with the Korean model still undecided. GSMArena notes that nothing is final until Samsung makes it official, and more twists are possible.
Alongside the chipset confusion, a comment from a tipster on GSMArena lists an unconfirmed spec sheet for the S27 Ultra: a 27 Tandem OLED display with up to 12,000 nits, up to 16GB of DDR5X RAM and 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage, a wide LYT910 sensor plus super wide and periscope HP5 cameras, and a battery of at least 6,000mAh. These are rumors and have not been confirmed by Samsung.
