Samsung's next flagship could take a step backwards on memory. Leaker and analyst @kro_roe claims on X that the Galaxy S27 series will start with 8GB of RAM instead of the 12GB found on the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S26, according to 9to5Google. The Pro and Ultra tiers would reportedly sit at 12GB.
The claim lands as the AI boom pushes RAM prices sharply higher across the industry. Samsung may not be alone: a separate Weibo leaker says several Android brands are cutting memory on their top phones and pushing some budget models back to 4GB, a figure Android has largely outgrown.
Galaxy S27 RAM leak: what changes
The rumored shift is significant because recent Samsung flagships have been predictable on memory. The Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S26 both open at 12GB, with a 16GB option on select Ultra trims. Under the new leak, the Galaxy S27 base model would drop to 8GB, and the Pro and Ultra would settle at 12GB rather than reaching higher.
- Base Galaxy S27: 8GB RAM, down from 12GB on Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S26.
- Galaxy S27 Pro and Ultra: 12GB, according to the leaker.
- No 16GB option is mentioned in the leak, unlike select Galaxy S26 Ultra trims.
- The same leaker says price increases "may be unavoidable" and doubled-storage pre-order promos may not return.
- Storage could also be split across different UFS versions, where the Galaxy S26 used UFS 4.0 across the board.
