Spotify announced on Wednesday that it is expanding audiobook access to more than 180 markets worldwide, covering regions across Europe, the Americas, the Caribbean, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia. The rollout starts today and will continue over the coming months, according to TechCrunch.
The move brings audiobooks to more than 750 million users and puts Spotify in direct competition with music streaming rivals and dedicated audiobook apps like Audible. Until now, audiobooks on Spotify were available mainly in English-speaking markets such as the U.S., U.K., Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand, plus Germany.

Spotify says it has more than 350,000 titles ready for the new markets and has grown its collection to cover over 120 languages. In Spain, users will get access to more than 45,000 titles in Spanish, while the company works with over 300 publishers worldwide, including Planeta and Mondadori, to keep adding titles in different markets.
The platform is also leaning on discovery features it launched over the past year. Audiobook Charts help listeners find popular titles, and the AI-powered tool built with ElevenLabs lets authors turn their books into audiobooks.
