Rambler, the AI-enhanced voice-to-text feature introduced with Google's Pixel 11 series, has been ported to other Android phones. A developer released "PixelBoard", a modified version of Gboard that unlocks Rambler and other new writing tools on essentially any Android device.
The port was announced on Reddit and is available through the project's GitHub page. According to 9to5Google, the team tested the app on a Galaxy Z Fold 8 and it ran just like Rambler on a Pixel 11.
What Rambler does on Gboard
Rambler runs your speech through AI to produce text with grammar and formatting, removing filler words and accidental stumbles. 9to5Google notes it is not perfect, since there is no live preview or word-for-word output, but it is still a major upgrade over traditional voice-to-text.
The feature had been limited to the Pixel 11 and Googlebook, so users on other Android phones had no official way to try it. PixelBoard is based on the official Gboard app, modified to enable Rambler and other new writing tools.
PixelBoard install and risks
The app can be sideloaded, and there are other install methods, including patching the Gboard installation already on your phone. As always with sideloaded software, you install at your own risk, and results may vary by device.
It is still unclear whether Google plans to bring Rambler to other Android phones. For now, third-party mods like PixelBoard are the only way to get the feature outside Pixel hardware. For those who prefer a Play Store install, 9to5Google points to Microsoft's SwiftKey as a solid alternative.
What it means for you
Tunisian users with a recent Android phone can try Rambler today via PixelBoard, but only by sideloading, which means no Play Store updates and no official support. If you depend on your phone for work, waiting for an official Google rollout is the safer path.
