Apple has announced a new 14-inch MacBook Pro powered by the M6 chip, promising more performance, stronger on-device AI capabilities and faster connectivity. The laptop was unveiled on October 27, 2026, according to 9to5Mac, which covered the launch the same day.
The headline claim is speed: Apple says the M6's 12-core GPU delivers up to 30 percent faster graphics and up to 25 percent faster AI workloads compared with the M5. The design and most features carry over from the previous model, so this is a spec bump rather than a redesign.
What changed on the M6 MacBook Pro
The M6 MacBook Pro keeps the same chassis as before, with Apple's Liquid Retina XDR display and long battery life unchanged. That means buyers are paying for internal upgrades, not a new look.
The most notable addition beyond the chip is the N1 wireless chip, which Apple first used in the iPhone 17. It brings two main upgrades to the laptop and, according to Apple, improves the performance and reliability of features such as AirDrop and Personal Hotspot.
- 12-core GPU: up to 30% faster graphics than M5, per Apple
- Up to 25% faster AI workloads than M5, per Apple
- N1 wireless chip, first seen in the iPhone 17, now included
- Faster, more reliable AirDrop and Personal Hotspot thanks to N1
- Same design, Liquid Retina XDR display and excellent battery life
