Apple's first folding phone, the iPhone Duo, is now officially shipping in 70 countries and regions after a week of pre-orders, according to GSMArena. The launch lands seven years after Samsung introduced the Galaxy Fold, giving Apple time to refine the hardware privately. The timing also coincides with Apple becoming the world's most valuable company on launch day.
The Duo carries a $1,999 price tag, and supplies are tight. Online orders through the official Apple Store are being pushed to January, while third-party retailers like Amazon still have limited stock that is running out fast. In physical Apple stores, availability is described as limited. Wired reports that the Duo is back-ordered for several weeks, which may actually work in buyers' favor as app developers catch up.
iPhone Duo specs and key details
The iPhone Duo uses a 5.4-inch outer screen and a 7.6-inch inner display, a new shape and size for Apple. Not all apps are optimized for these screens yet, and Wired notes that even some optimized apps like Instagram still show broken interface elements. Apple changed navigation so elements align on the right rail instead of the bottom center, which takes adjustment.
