Apple is planning an unusually large in-store demo push for the iPhone Duo, its first foldable iPhone, ahead of a launch now roughly two weeks away. According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, flagship Apple Stores will carry far more hands-on units than usual so customers can try the device before buying.
The report lands as Apple prepares to open preorders on October 16 and put the iPhone Duo on sale October 23. With supply expected to be tight, letting shoppers handle the foldable in person may matter more than any spec sheet.
iPhone Duo demo units by store
Gurman's newsletter describes a retail rollout built around volume. The Fifth Avenue store in New York City is expected to hold more than 150 units spread across hands-on stations and in-store fixtures, while the Apple Park Visitor Center in Cupertino will have close to 100.
Other major locations, including Michigan Avenue in Chicago, the Grove in Los Angeles and the Upper West Side in Manhattan, will each get roughly 30 to 40 units. Smaller stores will carry around 20, which the report still frames as above Apple's normal demo count, especially given the iPhone Duo comes in only two colors.
- Fifth Avenue, New York City: more than 150 units
- Apple Park Visitor Center: nearly 100 units
