Apple has not launched the iPhone 18 yet, and its fall lineup included only the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max and iPhone Duo. But a new leak claims the standard iPhone 18, expected in early 2027, will inherit two upgrades first seen on the Pro models.
The tip comes from leaker Digital Chat Station on Weibo, as reported by 9to5Mac. He says the iPhone 18 will get a bigger battery and an A20 chip built on TSMC's 2-nanometer process, following the pattern set by the iPhone 18 Pro.
According to the same post, the smaller Dynamic Island will not make it to the base model. The leaker also suggests the iPhone 18 price will rise from the current iPhone 17 cost, though that part of the claim appears to be speculation rather than a supply-chain detail.
iPhone 18 battery and A20 chip details
The leak points to two concrete changes for the standard iPhone 18, both borrowed from the Pro tier. The first is a battery capacity boost, continuing the trend of battery gains seen on the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max.
The second is the chip. Digital Chat Station says the iPhone 18 will use an A20 chip, not the A20 Pro found in the Pro models, but still built on TSMC's 2-nanometer node. The move to 2nm is expected to deliver larger than usual performance and efficiency gains compared with previous node jumps.
- Battery: capacity increase, following the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max trend
- Chip: A20 (not A20 Pro) on TSMC's 2-nanometer process
- Dynamic Island: smaller version not expected on the base iPhone 18
- Price: leaker suggests an increase over the iPhone 17, but this part is speculative
