Meta announced on Tuesday that it is rolling out "Your Algorithm" on Facebook, an AI-powered tool that lets users shape what appears in their Feed and Reels. The feature was first launched on Instagram, and its arrival on Facebook marks one of the platform's biggest changes to how recommendations are managed.
Instead of leaving the feed entirely to automated systems, users can now describe their preferences in their own words. Meta says those inputs feed directly into the ranking and recommendation algorithms, and that changes are reflected in recommendations in real time.
How Facebook's Your Algorithm feature works
The tool is built around natural language. Rather than tuning sliders or ticking topic boxes, users type or say what kind of content they want to see more or less of, and Facebook uses that to adjust what it surfaces in Feed and Reels. According to Meta, the goal is to make recommendations more relevant to each person.
Meta has also reworked the three-dot menu found on individual posts. From that menu, users can open "Your Algorithm" or tap "Interested" and "Not interested" to signal whether a given post matches their tastes. Meta says the platform may then ask follow-up questions to better understand what a user liked or disliked, so the feedback becomes more detailed over time.
- "Your Algorithm" covers both Feed and Reels on Facebook
- Preferences are described in natural language, not preset categories
- Changes to recommendations are shown in real time, per Meta
