Binance says it has replenished 90 percent of the roughly $6.3 billion in crypto stolen from its users in a record-breaking heist. The company's CEO confirmed the figure, and Binance said it will cover the remaining 10 percent itself.
The exchange posted on X that the leftover slice consists of "less liquid" tokens, which it says may take longer to acquire. Withdrawals remain paused, but Binance says it is still on track to switch them back on Sunday, 2026-11-01.
Binance hack: what the company says
According to The Verge, hackers pulled around $6.3 billion from Binance customers, making this one of the largest crypto thefts ever recorded. Binance is not waiting on recovered coins to make users whole: it is funding the shortfall directly.
The company framed the 90 percent figure as proof of progress, promising "measurable progress, transparent reporting, and concrete actions" in its X post. It said its next milestone is reopening withdrawal services within the timeframe it already communicated.
