Apple has announced a second product event for this month, set for Wednesday, October 28 at 10 a.m. PT in Los Angeles. The tagline on the invite is "Pro and tell", and marketing chief Greg Joswiak teased it on X by writing he can't wait to "pro and tell next week".
The event follows Apple's smart home-focused "Welcome home" launch on October 13, which brought the HomeView smart display, the HomePod mini 2 and a new Apple TV 4K. This time the spotlight is expected to shift to the Mac and the iPad, according to Bloomberg reporting cited by The Verge and Engadget.
Apple October 28 event: first touchscreen MacBook
The headline announcement is widely expected to be Apple's first MacBook Pro with a touchscreen and an OLED display, a machine that has been rumored for years but never shipped. According to 9to5Mac and Engadget, these touchscreen MacBook Pros are tipped to use M5 Pro and M5 Max chips and come in 14-inch and 16-inch sizes.
They are also described as significantly lighter than current Pro models — a change that would matter for anyone carrying a laptop all day. The Verge adds that the new MacBook Pro may feature an iPhone-like Dynamic Island. All of these details remain leaks: Apple has not confirmed specs, prices or the final product list.
M6 MacBook Pro and refreshed iPad Mini
The event is not just about the new touchscreen model. Apple is also planning to refresh the 14-inch MacBook Pro and the iMac with the M6 chip, which debuted in August inside the latest Mac mini, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman via Engadget and The Verge. The iPad Mini is expected to get an OLED screen and finally move its selfie camera to the landscape edge.
If those reports hold, October 28 would be a broad Mac and iPad refresh rather than a single-product show. Engadget notes the event is said to be an all-day affair, suggesting plenty of hands-on time with the new hardware.
