Apple had a packed week with major hardware and software announcements. The company introduced new MacBook Pro models with OLED touchscreens, an OLED iPad mini, and a significant update to its Creator Studio suite. Meanwhile, reports emerged about inner display damage on the iPhone Duo, and Poco unveiled the X8s for global markets.
In a separate development, Apple began rolling out iOS 27.2, which fixes over 160 security vulnerabilities and expands Siri AI to more languages. The update also adds Apple Pencil USB-C support for the iPhone Duo. These stories highlight a busy period for Apple as it navigates both innovation and quality control challenges.
MacBook Pro and iPad mini get OLED displays
The new MacBook Pro models feature tandem OLED displays, branded as PROLED XDR, with refresh rates from 10Hz to 120Hz and peak brightness up to 2,000 nits. They retain the M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, replace the notch with a Dynamic Island, and start at $2,899 (approximately 8,407 TND). Sales begin November 6.
Apple also updated the iPad mini with an 8.5-inch OLED display and the A20 Pro chip. However, the 128GB and 256GB versions use a binned chip with one fewer CPU core and half the NPU power of the 512GB model. The display still runs at 60Hz and includes IP67 ingress protection.
