Apple is quietly building out a full smart home lineup in partnership with LG, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. The reported devices include a video doorbell, a smart deadbolt lock, a thermostat, indoor and outdoor security cameras, a floodlight camera, and a temperature sensor.
The products will carry the LG brand even though Apple co-developed them, in what Bloomberg describes as a "second-party" arrangement. LG is handling manufacturing and product support, and has already sought regulatory approval for several devices in recent weeks. They are not expected to reach consumers for at least a few more months.
The LG-made devices listed in FCC and UL filings
Regulatory filings with the US Federal Communications Commission and product certification firm UL Solutions have surfaced product names, specifications, features and drawings, according to Bloomberg. LG asked that photos and more precise details stay confidential until early next year, and the filings do not mention Apple's involvement.
The named products include the LG Video Doorbell Wired, LG Floodlight Cam, LG Outdoor Cam Plug-In, LG Indoor Cam Plug-In, LG Smart Deadbolt Lock, LG Smart Thermostat and LG Temperature Sensor.
