Apple has unveiled the Apple Home Collection, a new family of smart home accessories co-developed with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric. The announcement came at Apple's "Welcome Home" event on Tuesday, and the lineup covers a video doorbell, indoor and outdoor security cameras, a smart deadbolt lock, and thermostats.
The devices work with HomeView, Apple's first smart home display, which runs Siri with AI features and can control the accessories alongside an iPhone or iPad. According to TechCrunch, the products will become available in December, and the launch pushes Apple into a connected-home security market long dominated by Amazon Ring and Google Nest.

The Verge went hands-on with all six devices after the event. The most notable is the LG smart lock, which uses ultra-wideband technology to detect when an authorized person approaches and unlock the door automatically, with no need to pull out a phone or a key.
The video doorbell and indoor camera share a tubular design, and the outdoor cameras add live viewing, motion detection, intelligent alerts and video storage. A separate temperature sensor can track conditions room by room, while both thermostats support the Matter standard.
