Hardware startup Aina announced today a new smart ring designed to act as a remote control for AI agents. The device, simply called the "AI ring," features a small screen, a joystick-like button, a microphone, and a speaker, allowing users to approve agent actions, take calls, dictate notes, and control apps without pulling out their phone.
The ring is priced at $399 during an early-bird preorder period, after which it will cost $499. Aina plans to begin shipping in January 2027. The company, which raised $5.5 million in July, previously built Mirage, a three-key controller for Macs, and used those lessons to develop the ring.
Aina AI ring specs and price
The Aina Ring connects to Macs and iPhones and is made of titanium. Its onboard assistant, powered by what Aina calls a Context Aware Operating System, learns your routines from location, calendar, and email data, and can suggest actions—called "Aina Cues"—like ordering an Uber, playing a podcast, or sending a late-notice email. The display provides confirmation that an action went through, which founder Apoorv Shankar says is crucial for building trust with proactive agents.
You can also connect third-party AI agents like Muse or Instinct, which can handle tasks through virtual browsers. The ring's joystick doubles as a music controller, and it can act as a TV remote or Zoom controller when connected to your devices.
